Capabilities

Currently DCD Wind Energy is operating a mould which produces single rotor blades for 2.5 MW wind turbines. Once full production capacity is reached, expected in 2013, the mould will be able to produce approximately 50 sets of rotor blades a year. 

With the first order secured for AcelorMittal, DCD Wind Energy will also manage the client’s Saldanha wind farm.  To this end it is intended in the future to move the blade production facility from the Cape Town harbour to Saldanha, where production capacity could potentially be further increased. 

DCD Wind Energy will further manufacture and assemble the remaining components for the wind turbines - the turbine tower, the flanges to bolt  the forward tower segments and the turbine nacelle. The company will also transport and erect the completed turbines.
