DCD Wind Energy

DCD Wind Energy owns the majority stake in Isivunguvungu Wind Energy Converter (“I-WEC ”), the first multi-megawatt wind turbine manufacturer in SA.  The company manufactures and assembles most wind turbine components. 

As the first in the country, DCD Wind Energy began manufacturing 50m rotor blades at the end of 2011. The design was acquired under licence from Aerodyne, a leading German engineering company.

Job creation and skills development are key features of DCD Wind Energy’s philosophy, and production is expected to reach 200 wind turbines a year creating a total of 400 direct jobs and numerous indirect roles by 2016.
