Capabilities

DCD Marine’s extensive facilities ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry. It employs a workforce of approximately 350 skilled, experienced permanent workers and has the ability to quickly and effectively upscale with competent contract workers for large-scale projects.

Facilities at the port of Cape Town

In addition to the designated berth and dry docks (details below), the yard also offers extensive steel and pipe fabrication, valve repair and testing, marine and mooring services, electrical reticulation and controls, blasting and coating, accommodation modules and subsea and underwater services.

The Port of Cape Town has a proven track record for the successful completion of oil & gas projects over the years. Situated close to prime landmarks such as the V&A Waterfront, the Cape Town International Convention Centre and in close proximity to Cape Town International Airport, the Port is an ideal choice for rig and vessel repairs and upgrades.

Workshop facilities

  • Area: approximately 4200m²
  • Located: within the Port of Cape Town along either sides of the dry dock
  • Steel fabrication workshops with floor space: 3000m²
  • Mechanical workshop with floor space: 200m²
  • Pipe shop: 520m²
  • Blasting & painting booth: 450m²
  • Our experienced and well-trained workshop staff are equipped to address all our clients' engineering problems.

Sturrock Drydock

  • Overall docking length: 360m
  • Width at entrance top: 45.1m
  • Width at bottom (dock floor): 38.4m
  • Depth over entrance sill HWOST: 13.7m
  • 455 concrete docking blocks
  • (1500 x 1000 x 750mm) (DCD owned).
  • Docking blocks available from Transnet National Ports Authority
  • Special docking blocks (3.2m) used for Acergy Polaris (2008)
  • A docking length of 369.6m can be obtained by placing the caisson in the emergency stop at the entrance. The dock can be divided into two compartments of either 132.5m and 216.1m, or 205.7m and 142.9m, respectively
