DCD Venco GM Willem Mare
DCD Venco general manager, Willem Mare.

A specialist in the fabrication, manufacture and refurbishment of medium to heavy duty mechanical components continues to sustain impressive market share in South Africa, despite challenging economic conditions, this company, DCD Venco, reports. DCD Venco is a division of international manufacturing and engineering company DCD. It operates from a 25 ha facility complete with a 22,000 m2 roofed factory in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, where it boasts the capacity to fabricate and manufacture components of up to 50 tonnes for OEM equipment.

General manager Willem Mare believes that DCD Venco continues to be recognised as a preferred supplier of components to international clients that operate in the power generation sector. "DCD Venco boasts numerous certifications, including: ISO 9001, ISO 3834, OSHAS 18001 and ISO 14001, which exceed local industry benchmarks.

DCD Venco has adopted a proactive approach towards technological evolution which, according to Mare, has played an important role in ensuring that the company remains one step ahead of the competition. "DCD Venco services some of the world's largest OEMs that operate at high profile projects. It Is, therefore, exceptionally important to ensure that product quality and associated turnaround times are always to the customer's satisfaction."
DCD Venco is able to accurately

trace each component back to its cast or serial number from the specific steel it was manufactured from. "This is controlled by our Baan and SigmaNest programs, and is extremely helpful when a fault occurs on a specific component, as DCD Venco can backtrack that component through all its check points all the way back to when the steel was cast," Mare says.

DCD Venco was established in 1973 as specialist provider of engineering solutions to Iscor. Over the decades the company has developed into a modern streamlined facility with extensive in-house capabilities.

These differentiators enable the company to offer shorter production cycles and higher quality control than the industry benchmarks in every step of the manufacturing process.
